I'll start from the beginning so I have more to write about.
Once upon a time in 2007 I went to Dan's house. We were just sitting around watching badly dubbed Naruto and looking up bad cosplay on Google Images.... a normal day in the life of us. He got a call from his sister and left the room to take it. Upon his return he announced he was going to be moving into his sister's house. Within a few hours we'd packed up all his essentials (DVDs, games consoles, graphic novels) and were on the way to his sister's house, which was just around the corner from where I live. He'd left behind the house he was sharing with his girlfriend, they'd only just split up so I think he just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. Due to the sudden turn of events that day I could really feel the life-changing vibes..... or maybe it was just gas. I was quite ecstatic that the only person to share my love of all things Japan was now living just down the road from me.
For the past few days Dan had been talking about, "a proposition that would need a year of your life and a couple of thousand pounds" that he had for me. On the day he moved house he decided to tell me what the hell he was talking about. He'd found a company that helps arrange working holidays in Japan. I'm in!
Now skip forward to the present day and we have travel insurance sorted, we have our visa application forms ready to fill out, we have a few contacts in Japan to give us help and advice and we have about half the cash we need already saved up. We'd originally planned to leave in November. That sort of got put back to December but now I think we're basically saying we'll go just soon as we can afford it. This is mainly due to me not actually having a job at the moment. I'm feeling slightly pessimistic about it all at the moment (you'd never guess from the way I started this paragraph!) but I think as soon as I get a job I'll be able to pay my Dad back what I owe him, resume adding funds to my Japan savings account and that'll make it all seem realistic again.
I'll be updating this blog whenever there's significant progress in the pre-Japan arrangements.
Today I learnt, "itsumoyori"
meaning that the proceeding adjective is more...... I know what it means I just can't describe things in technical terms! Don't have a cow man!
